I have a Bachelors and Masters in Elementary Education. I have been a substitute teacher for 6 years. I currently work for Fort Knox Community Schools as a long term substitute teacher. I fill in for the maternity leaves, sicknesses and emergency cases. I am a perferred substitute. In addition, I have tutoring experience. All of my students make gains in subjects that they need help with. I strive to make sure that all students learn at their potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from WKU with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and during this time I worked at an elementary school during their after school program helping tutor and supervise the children. After I graduated, I substituted for several school districts in mostly elementary grades, but I also worked in middle & high school. I am currently working half-time as a reading intervention teacher. My strongest subject is math and english.
I believe it is very important for children to learn to enjoy the process of learning. Every child learns and relates to new information differently, so teachers must use appropriate teaching strategies to ensure the success of their students. My goal is to help students to make better grades, but teach them HOW to learn where they can become independent lifelong learners.

My easy going nature and fun personality allows me to make learning interesting. I have always believed that the best way for someone to learn is to put the information into terms that are understandable to them. In the past I have used illustrations, acted out scenes from battles, utilized initialisms, and made up songs to help students learn concepts. Connections between the content and familiar concepts are essential, and thus I find it very important to get to know the student and how they learn in order to best help them.
