A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. For two years in a row, I taught a Beginner's Guitar course for children and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. My teaching style is very interactive. I like to begin a tutoring session by helping the student set a goal for the session. We then begin work on the material. During the session I encourage the student's learning by asking open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking. With writing assignments, the pen is always in the student's hand and, with guidance, the student makes choices about his or her writing.
