A Little Bit About Me...

I had been a teacher for 12 years engaging in a multitude of learning styles and methodology. I spent 6 years serving as principal at all levels. I was Director of Education for two years and then served as Superintendent of Schools for two districts for a total of 15 years. During that time I never lost connection with teaching, mentoring students from all levels of education and continued to teach in the classroom at least once a week. I was an adjunct professor for two years at Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania. I retired in 2009 to travel and photograph the country, while living in and RV. I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.
As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies.
