I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I have put to use not only in my writing but I am a proofreader to several other beginning author’s stories. They rely on me to fix their grammatical, spelling and usage errors so their writing flows more smoothly. In reading books I enjoy teaching others the overall theme, morals and observations that the author was trying to convey. I have developed my love for math and statistical formulas by applying what I learned in math classes to enjoy following sports teams stats better. I find that using numbers in several different areas promotes interest and learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I have eight years experience teaching algebra I, five years teaching business math. I have eleven years experience teaching English grammar from third grade through twelfth grade. I have taught fourth grade for three years, fifth grade for three years and sixth grade for two years.
My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I do not beleive in giving answers, but rather helping the student learn how to find the answers. I am very patient and will go over a concept until it is understood by the student. I have enjoyed substitute teaching since 1991; it was a part- time occupation that worked well as I re-entered the college scene in order to advance my AA degree to a BA in Political Science. Life and destiny urged me to earn a teacher's certification in Texas, where I later worked as an ESL 4th-5th grade teacher in the Waco (Texas) Independent School District for three years. A move to Kentucky to be closer to my aging mother resulted in six years of working as the Adair County School District's Gifted and Talented Coordinator and ESL/ELL Coordinator. I have taught Special Education for the last 12 years from grades k-12. I have four years experience in High School, seven years in elementary and one year as a special education director. I have also tutored students in high school (one year), taught private kindergarter (one year) and I was director of a Day care for 2 years. I earned my Bachelors degree when my children were small (all under the age of 7) and I continued on with classes starting in 2001 until I received my Masters Degree in Special Education.
