Being someone who likes to see the "big picture" of concepts and ideas, I struggled through math as a child, believing that I didn't understand it. I finally realized one day of the simplicity in it and actually began to enjoy solving problems one step at a time. I like to utilize trust and humor in teaching, giving kids an environment to feel safe and confident in. In doing so I have been able to earn their trust and get honest answers from them and in return show them that it is alright to be wrong as long as it helps them correct their ways to learn to do it correctly.
With a degree in Marketing and a year of school for mechanical engineering I have completed a number of calculus classes throughout the years. I supported myself throughout college and beyond in the Food and Beverage Service Industry and took a job in the Insurance Industry after graduating. I am now in the proces ... read more

I graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute,a college that prides itself in a rigorous curriculum with a strong emphasis on projects that its students prepare for a real world experience. WPI’s fast paced 7 week terms helped me learn time management skills, self teaching, and working in groups. I have earned a BS in chemistry with a focus on organic synthesis, as well as a concentration in history, specifically the history technology. The projects I completed include creating and analyzing a new organic compound, traveling to Africa to research Roman water technology, and working at the Tower of London Museum to research visitor satisfaction. During the past two years I have worked as a chemistry and math tutor.
I am passionate about chemistry and history, and I always enjoy helping students in these fields. Organic chemistry can be difficult for many students, but I believe o ... read more

I graduated from UW-Madison with a BS in Dietetics. In order to obtain this degree, I had to take a wide variety of Science courses including: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, and many others. Not only am I well versed in Science, I have a background in Math too. In highschool, I completed the AP-Caluculus course with a score that allowed me to bypass any college math courses. However, I have refreshed my math skills since I recently took the Graduate Requisite Exam (GRE) and received high scores in the math section. I may have little experience in tutoring, but in all my past employment, I have been promoted to the point where I have trained new employees and received excellent feedback from the employees I trained.
When training employees, my teaching style has always been to learn by doing. I believe that people do best in learning a new task when one explains the ... read more

I truly enjoy teaching and working with students to help them learn. I am open to using any method or style that is effective for individual students, which is what I do as an educator. My enthusiasm for education is obvious to anyone who knows me or observes me as a teacher.
The last twenty years of my full time teaching experience was in elementary gifted education. I currently serve as an adjunct math instructor at Fox Valley Technical College. I would feel most comfortable tutoring any elementary subject and some secondary math courses.

I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of examples demonstrating how to properly obtain the correct answer. I will follow that up by asking them to do a problem without any direct instruction from me. I will watch them work on the problem to assure they are working on it properly. If any mistakes are made I will politely point them out as the individual is working. Finally, I will ask them to work on problems completely on their own and I will check their answers when they are done. I feel the only way to learn statistics, or any math for that matter, is through repetition and working on a lot of problems.
While going to college at the UW – Eau Claire, I've been a math and statistics tutor for the past four years. I've also been a Teacher’s Assistant for a stat ... read more

After having raised 4 children, I know that each child has a different learning style. One may be very able to understand abstract thoughts and teaching styles while the other may not. Therefore, tutoring must be done on a very individual basis. I believe it is the teacher's responsibility to listen and observe each child so that the appropriate teaching style can be effectively used for each child in an effective and relaxed manner.
As a mom of 4 children ages 16-23, a college graduate, and a community volunteer I have a great deal of knowledge in the areas of mentoring and encouraging youth. As an honor graduate of UW-O and a high-GPA graduate at Ashford University, I have proven that I am successful in researching and writing at both an academic and business related level. As a graduate of the top chiropractic school in the world, I have achieved a high level of education. I have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Through out the years I have taught 5-8th graders in various subjects, as well as helped teach for a national board review company to chiropractic students all over the country in a variety of topics. I was also the editor-in-chief for the Palmer Triune, helping me obtain an excellent understanding and appreciation for the English language.
My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student. Sometimes all it takes is it being explained one more time a different way.

I also teach techniques to help in the memorization process and work with the student to tailor that to their specific personality.
As a summa cum laude graduate with a BS in Chemistry I worked for over 25 years in the printing industry. One of my responsibilities was to explain to the pressmen the chemistry and physics of the printing process so that they could be better printers. This led me to an interest in relating science to the everyday world. I also have a passion for understanding how we know what the scientists tell us. I don't have a wide teaching experience but I do enjoy working and helping Elementary or junior high leveled children. Ay my most recent job, I worked in a dept called 'PLAYLAND" where I was responsible for taking care and keeping the children of our customers entertained and busy as their parent's shopped for groceries. I have also assisted a choir class in high school for kids around my age at the time. I believe I am very good with children and I can show them much support and confidence in themselves with their struggle through their learning. I know I can be trusted and loyal to these students. I teach by taking the student's pace at tasks and help them make ways to learn on their own.
I volunteered for the Special Olympics and for the D.A.R.E program from Elementary students back in 2003 and 2008. With the Special Olympics, I helped cook and serve food to the contestants in t ... read more
