My comments on tutoring Reading : GED level

Adult Education Instructor for 9 years. I have taught in community GED classes in Georgia also. My experience in Alabama has been with the penal system. This has been a rewarding place to work. We are responsible for over 100 GED's each year. In Georgia, I also taught basic computer skills. Reading was the main focus of this promgram. I taught mothers to read to their children. I also teach voice privately.
My teaching style is determined by the needs of my class. Each person learns differently. I have found that a teacher must provide visible, hands-on, lectures, and kinetic teaching styles to meet the needs of a class. At some point every student must learn to work independently.

I have taught public school in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years. I retired May 2010. I have taught grades 1-6 in All subject areas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1983 from Auburn University. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Troy State University at Montgomery in 1990. I have worked extensively with children in many areas due to the No Child left Behind Act.
