I utilize elements of each of the five teaching styles; however, I prefer the I Do, We Do, You Do style of learning. I firmly believe in providing clear instruction and demonstration of each concept. I enjoy tutoring or showing someone how to solve a Math problem but, I know some will understand quickly than others. I have great patience working with children and helping them understand the true concepts to solving a problem. My unique teaching style is to get the children to think about Math in there everyday life and compare it to something they are familiar with. I have a degree in Early Childhool however, I have taught Biology for 9th and 10th graders in a private school. My husband, being prior military kept us moving so I have been a substitute for many years. I also taught my son until the 4th grade and he is now attending private school.
I believe that there are 3 types of learners: 1.Oral : learn by hearing 2.Visual : learn by seeing 3.Kinesthetic: learn by hearing, seeing and using their hands The Oral learner is a “teacher’s pet” because they are the students that will listen in class, barely take notes and do quite well in school. The Visual learner must “look on” as a teacher reads, not taking notes but to follow along in a book. The Kinesthetic learner usually has to listen, take notes, read along but will also tap their foot or a pencil.These types of “distractions” actually help a kinesthetic learner.

I start by asking the students to tell me exactly what is it that they not understand and start from there. I then like to work backwards from that point to find where they got lost. I also use everyday concepts to give similiar scenarios to get them on the right track. I find pleasure in seeing their faces light up once they come to understand the subject matter.
