A Little Bit About Me...

I hold an Honour's degree (equivalent to a bachelor's degree) in Statistics. During my studies, I was a student assistant for courses in end user computer skills. I've also done one-on-one mathematics tutoring to students from grades 8 to 12 for two years. In the final year of my degree I was a junior lecturer for a semester. I taught Statistics to a class of 60 and achieved a 100% pass rate for the course.
From my experience working with learners/students in both a classroom and a one-on-one capacity, I am comfortable working in either area. I am extremely patient and pride myself on making my students feel comfortable with me and I can adapt my teaching style to suit each child as needed. With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above.
