I have recently completed a four-year Bachelors degree in Political Science from Indiana University. I also have obtained a minor in Sociology from Indiana. My primary focus has been International foreign policy with a focus on U.S - Russian relations. I have extensive experience with leading and designing group activities that encourage and facilitate learning. My Teaching Style is extremely flexible -- I encourage active learning and believe that learning through experience can be a powerful method of solidifying knowledge. When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history. I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes. I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. As an engineer and manager, training employees was an integral component of work performed throughout my ten-year professional career. I created systems and procedures, followed by training and "tutoring" for successful implementation. I also worked for the university during my college years as a Chemistry coach. I tutored students 20-hours per week for four years, providing one-on-one and team services. In high-school, I tutored elementary students in mathematics and reading. I always use concrete examples that students can relate to when explaining a concept.
