I am a college sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I am pursuing Bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Art History. My expertise is in English, history, and art, but I also have experience tutoring in French up to high school French III. I received a 35 and 36 on the English and Reading portions of the ACT, respectively. I also received a score of 4 or above on the following AP exams: Art History, English Literature, American Government, Comparative Government, American History, and European History. I believe that practice makes perfect. I have materials for the above classes and I have been editing papers for people since I was in the 7th grade. Nothing brings me more happiness that accomplishing a difficult task. I really enjoy seeing what I have overcome and the finished product of hard work and fortitude. Through tutoring, I want to extend that feeling to as many students as possible. I know that many people find mathematics to be extremely difficult, but I also know that with the right teacher we can learn anything. I will bring each student back to the basics until he or she understands them fully, then we can build a foundation of information and the more advanced material will not be so difficult. I prefer a relaxed relaltionship with students regardless of their age. I do not try to force anything, rather comfortably explain things on a level that can be understood by the student. I try to have fun with the subject, and make it interesting on the student's level of understanding/experience. I realize some students may not be comfortable in a remedial situation, and try to encourage participation in a non-threatening manner.
