My comments on tutoring Drama : I specialize in puppetry! It is great for helping quiet children find their voice, and students of any age to build self-confidence in front of an audience.

I go as fast or as slow as the student needs. I encourage students to try new techniques and ideas so they are self-aware of the process and learning experience that leads to self-improvement and development.
During the school year, I work as a curriculum coordinator and art teacher for an after school program in Lexington, Ma. This is my 6th year of teaching stimulating and unique art projects to children in grades K-5. I have interned as a graphic designer and also had jobs as a wedding photographer. During the summer, I work as an assistant director to a summer enrichment program in Winchester, Ma. Outside of work- I am a member at large of the Boston Guild of Puppeteers, and also work on my own art which includes building my portfolio of paintings to show and sell, as well as complete small digital photography jobs.

Teacher of English as a Second Language – that was my initial BA. Being a native Russian speaker, I was able to understand nuances of learning and teaching foreign languages. After three years of experience as a school teacher I was awarded a Teacher of the Year scholarship. Then I began to practice personal tutoring. MA in Directing and Acting provided me with even deeper understanding of applied psychology. I worked as a professor and tutored both college and high school students. Plus, submission of research, professional reports and numerous articles gave me an insight into paper writing. My last ten years of tutoring include English as a Second Language, Business and Professional studies, and the arts.

My objective is to provide good educational approach to ensure that my students are the best in their field of study as well as have as much fun they could possibly have while pursuing their studies.

I have always been extremely focused on education, both my own and that of others. Starting in elementary school, I was assigned as a peer tutor to other students who had difficulty grasping the material. I continued to tutor my classmates until graduation. While in high school, I also began tutoring students that were still in elementary and middle school. Although I considered education as a career, I instead opted to major in psychology, in which I earned a BA in 2007. I also hold an AA in Liberal Studies. While earning these degrees, I tutored fellow classmates in the areas of English, algebra, psychology, and history. I also tutored middle school level children in reading comprehension.

I truly believe in child centered learning. As a parent myself, I believe that the home life of the student is equal to, if not more important than, life in the classroom. I am a firm believer in communicating effectively with families and I view parents as allies throughout the education of their children. Creativity is an enormous part of who I am as a teacher. As a former actress and casting director I believe my knowledge of theater and performance, combined with my classroom experience, will enable me to bring a creative, exciting and interesting approach to learning. My educational experience has not so much informed my decision to work with elementary aged children, as it has inspired it. For me, those are the core years where the love of knowledge is fostered and encouraged. My hope is to send them forward with a light burning steadfast, a love of learning and an understa ... read more
