A Little Bit About Me...

I left full time teaching 3 years ago. I was the whole math dept. I taught 6,7,8,9th grade math in a private school. I did not realize how much I would miss it. I sometimes day dream about how I would teach a certain topic a different way. I have always thought that teaching is magical. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning. A common problem with individuals needing tutoring is that they sometimes do not think they have the "smarts" to learn the subject. My first objective is to show them they have the "stuff" to get it! I was even a Teacher Assistant for a Data Structures class at my university (CSI 310) in which i helped students with homework and programming assignments. In this role i helped students learn concepts such as linked lists, tree structures, recursive thinking as well as other types of data structures. A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I volunteered at Guilderland High School where I helped children with homework, I love teaching and being around with children. Once you put the effort into their learning and be there with them one step at a time until they finally understand the concept and/or get the answer, it is an amazing feeling.
I recently graduated from Syracuse University. I majored in finance and marketing management with a minor in information technology. In my finance courses, I have gained extensive knowledge in different areas of math. Apart from my academic studies, I joined clubs where I held leadership positions which allowed me build team building and leadership skills. My teaching style is replete with visuals and drawing an analogy from nature to help understand abstract concepts of science.
