Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.

Teaching, and specifically teaching music, has been my passion for years. While tutoring, I use a wide variety of methods, including metaphors, diagrams- whatever the student requires to learn the material. I am exceptionally patient with struggling students, because I know that losing patience solves nothing, and given the right materials and knowledge, the student will succeed. I believe very strongly in the potential of people to do exceptionally well, even when they may not realize that they are capable. After graduating with my BS in chemistry, I went into industry and worked as an analytical chemist. After a short time in industry, I returned to school to pursue my MS in Chemistry at the University of Hawaii. At the University of Hawaii, I had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for four years and tutor undergraduate students in all aspects of chemistry. After 12 successful years as a pharmaceutical chemist, I began taking classes at Pace University and recently I have finished my requirements for graduation in August when I expect to receive my NYS Initial Certification in Chemistry 7-12. This summer, I am teaching a SAT II Chemistry Prep class and a Pre-Algebra class at Peak Learning Center in Norwood, NJ.
