I have a unique resume of teaching experience. I have worked in a number of settings from pre-school to teaching adults. I have taught in public schools, private schools, after school settings and in a foreign country. I believe that every person has their own learning style and it is important for me to understand my students' needs and goals in any learning environment. Most of my teaching experience is with Elementary students working in the core academic areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science and the Arts. A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. My tutoring experience had its inception in that setting.
As a progressive educator, I believe in attainment of the standard benchmarks by individualized methods, utilitizng a spectrum of teaching modalities. My personal affect is cheerful and professional, although I believe that learning should be fun, and with me, it is.

I began teaching by volunteering in the public school and subsequently was employed as a second grade teacher assistant for a master teacher. After nearly seven years, the opportunity to complete a Master's degree in elementary education became a reality for me. With my experience as an assistant, long term substitute teacher, and professional development, I also received certification in Special Education-moderate needs K-8.
