My comments on tutoring Calculus I : I took AP Calculus BC my senior year and revieced an A- however that was both Calculus I and II in the same course. I struggled with Calculus II, but am very good at Calculus I. I plan to skip a semester of Calculus I in college because of how well I already know it.

Teaching new concepts, practice applying the new material, review, and more practice of the material to solidify the concepts.
I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals.

In my experience, most students under perform in science and math due to the an inability to relate theses subjects to practical real life examples. Connecting chemistry and physics principles with analogous real life examples is the key for students to become both interested and proficient in these subjects. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning.
