My comments on tutoring CAD : 10 years of ACAD experience

I learned CAD as a student studying Interior Design in the late 90's ,and have used this program for a little more than a decade in my career, in order to document the built environment and propose design solutions.While running my own Interior Design studio four years ago, I was also teaching part time at two of the colleges in Sacramento where they had Interior Design programs. CAD classes included learning the basic commands for drawing and editing,dimensioning, setting up a template and layers and plotting finished work. Classes also included plan view (2D)and elevation drawings,adding text to drawings and title block layouts. Classes did not include 3D. Creating blocks can also be taught,for block libraries etc. I have also taught CAD at the college level for Kaplan College and Art Institutes in Sacramento.

CAD is one of my top subjects! I have over 20 years experience with AutoCAD and over 25 years experience as a draftsman. I have a 2 year AS degree in Engineering Drafting Technology. I am available after work in the evenings 1 day per week

25+ years experience in engineering drafting. 20+ years experience with AutoCAD. Started using AutoCAD Release 9, currently using AuotCAD 2013. I manage the engineering CAD Department for a maintenance engineering group. I have 4 drafters working to support 10 engineers in 3 engineering disciplines, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil.
I've never really formally taught a class of individuals but I do provide hands on training and CAD support for engineers and drafters in our office on a daily bases. I would consider this style to be hands on...

While a student, I was a teachers assistant in a chemistry lab at my college. During school, I spent numerous hours studying with large groups of students. Together we practiced methods for teaching our knowledge, this way everyone in the group understood the material.
I like to use the book as an outline of the material to be taught. Visual aids are very important to me. I believe pictures are worth a thousand words. I am very patient and great with communicating ideas to others.
