A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored an adult non-native English speaker in English composition and other language arts related subject matter. I also tutored a third grade student in writing and he finished the Connecticut Mastery Test in writing with the highest possible score after my work with him. I am currently tutoring a non-native English speaking fifth grader in language arts.
I excel at developing a rapport with my students. They realize that I am the tutor/teacher but they also know they can talk to me and feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I find that appropriate types of praise seem to help a lot. I also exercise a great deal of patience and try to interject humor when appropriate. I am patient and non-judgmental and try to determine each student's learning style. I try to encourage my students to think about the context of the subject matter.
