A Little Bit About Me...

In college, I in part supported myself by tutoring in math and organic chemistry. I have earned a BS in Biology and a Doctorate in Medicine (but I am retired from clinical practice). My education has given me expertise in the areas of biology, chemistry, math and anatomy. I have supplemented this knowlege with self study in grammar and creative writing. I have won writing contest and have published many letters to the editor. During the last 6 years I have tutored students seeking to obtain their GED, in all subject areas.

I have always enjoyed teaching people in a one-on-one or small group environment. It allows me to tailor my teaching style to fit the individual student or group I’m working with. I enjoy using creative methods to teach a topic, including creating multiple ways to explain a term or concept and providing analogies to concepts that are familiar to the student. All people comprehend concepts in different ways and at varying speeds. A Little Bit About Me...

My extensive experience in different subjects and venues has engendered in me an adaptive teaching style. I am very comfortable teaching in both a classroom setting as well as one-to-one. I truly believe that the key to learning is proper motivation. Rather than giving answers to a student who is having difficulties, I prefer to guide students, prodding them along in the right direction with directed prompts.
