I have been tutoring grades K-9 for quite a few years. I've also taught a preschool class while in high school. I am currently majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. I've participated in numerous afterschool programs to help children succeed and give them the confidence they need to step up to the plate and earn the "A" they deserve. I have been substitute teaching for 5 years. Within that time I decided that teaching was for me and went on to get my degree and certificate to teach. I have completed several long-term substitute teaching positions, picking up where a teacher left off, often times unexpectedly. I have taught classes in the elementary, middle and high school. My philosophy is that education is power. Knowledge is our greatest defense and our greatest weapon. Through knowledge we gain experience, which enriches our competence, which protests the ills of society, which leads to a social justice, and most important, liberty. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well.
