I am a classically trained saxophonist, fluent on alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone. I have been teaching private lessons for the past four years and am currently the baritone saxophonist for the Real Time Sax Quartet. My teaching style is focussed around a very supportive environment. I reinforce every players individual strengths while consistently pushing students to face and conquer their deficiencies. I believe whole-heartedly that any student can achieve a very high level of success in music with hard work and the right guidance. I studied education at Montclair State University for 4 years but I have a always been a teacher. From leadership roles in high school to corporate training, I have a talent for being able to boil subjects down to their basics and provide true understanding. My strongest subjects are Math, Music, and Literature. I can also do work in Science, English and Humanities/Social Studies. I teach people to learn and find answers on their own. My teaching style could be described as fun, supportive, caring, and disciplined. By disciplined I don't mean tough, hard, or mean. Students are assigned work that they are expected to complete, although it won't be too time consuming. All work is intended to improve the student's abilities in the field that I will be tutoring them. Improvement is encouraged and positively reinforced. I have tutored Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Music History for two and a half years at Adelphi University. My G.P.A. in Music Theory was a 3.4 and my G.P.A. for Aural Skills was a 4.0. I was recommended by the former Department Chair-Person to tutor a student with special needs.
