I enjoy teaching children at all levels. I find that children learn at different speeds and by different means. So, to be truly effective you have to present the information to the broadest base of students and hope you address all their needs. Having a great level of flexibility in your lesson plans is need to ensure that no one student falls behind.
Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring while in high school, as a junior and senior I would spend 2-3 afternoons a week at the Middle School helping the learning support classes write book reports. While in college at Slippery Rock University, I put up flyers around campus and worked as an independent tutor for five dollars an hour aiding my fellow students finish their final papers at the end of each semester. I feel that my degree in Creative Writing aids me greatly in tutoring because my ability to think outside the box and put myself in the writers shoes helps me to better understand their writing style. I've recently moved to the city and I am really eager to begin teaching and tutoring again.

In my experience tutoring and training students, the most rewarding moments are those in which understanding of a subject becomes a reality. I work hard at trying to find those moments with my students, explaining the subject through different approaches and providing diverse examples to face abstract concepts. I believe in rewarding the effort of the students, establishing a constructive relationship in which the student is not scared of admitting lack of knowledge, encouraging the student to ask questions, developing an inquisitive reasoning.
