I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. A Little Bit About Me...

I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University. I also took many different courses in Art and Art History, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.

After completing a year as a teacher I realized that what I liked about teaching is the actual teaching part. Unfortunately for me, most of what was involved with being a teacher for me included tasks other than teaching, which was not what I had expected. I have noticed a couple things in my years tutoring people in math. I have noticed that many people have trouble with the fundamental concepts of fractions, decimals, order of operations, and adding/subtracting positive and negative numbers. If a student does not have these concepts together much of the 'higher level' mathematics can seem a blur and highly confusing. I have also noticed that students like real world or relevant examples when learning a new math concept.
