A Little Bit About Me...

As a Math Educator, I have achieved a BA and M.Ed in Math Curriculum. This two titles let me to work in 6 different school in wich I had devoloped a high standar curriculum in each area of the Math field. My last experince in the classroom was with a drop out students program in wich I helped giving that second opportunity to students that in some cases no one believe in; to graduate fron high school. I have 13 years of expirience in teaching, tutoring and mentoring in Math, Sciencies and Spanish.
I love teaching and working at any level of education. I am very patient, considerate and dynamic with all students. My goal is to make a difference in my students, helping them to become better educated human being in the future. I am a beliver of the discovey and constructivist method of learning. My teaching style has evolved somewhat since then. I mostly give mini-lectures immediately followed by student problem solving work. I then get input from the students on how to solve a problem, and then show them the way I did it. We also debate the different ways of approaching the problem. I do stress, as much as possible, the development of critical thinking skills. I find that a key skill here is that the student should try and develop the patience and fortitude to struggle with understanding complex chemical principles (easier said than done?).
Having struggled through four years of attempting to learn chemistry at the undergraduate level, listening to “inarticulate though erudite” lectures on various topics in chemistry in the dank, damp, hallowed halls of the University of Paisley, I was determined to redress the balance in favor of the student. As a graduate student, I have successfully tutored a number of undergraduate students. I received my BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Currently, I have 15 graduate semester hours including Advanced biochemistry, parasitology, Advanced botany, and Plant development. In addition, I have extensively learned proper laboratory research paper formatting. I have tutored Anatomy/Physiology, general chemistry, and pharmacology.
I enjoy teaching and helping other students understand difficult material. I love to use diagrams and other visual teaching tools. Often I relate biology to everyday life situations to help students understand better. Every student learns differently, but the material can be understood by every student.
