A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
I have been selected as a peer tutor through Carlow University for Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

I have been an online instructor at both Walden and Duquesne Universities teaching Public Health and Policy Management I have taught classes on cost benefit analyses at the Public Health Institute to career professionals. I have also statistics, physiological Chemistry and Biology to both high school and adult learners.
Prefer to teach students to think critically about what they learn using everyday examples I also personalize the learning experience by asking students to particpate in their own learning-I do this by asking questions I teach to students streghths and accomodate different learning styles e.g. visual learners, auditory learners I believe that all children engaged in the sciences should have experiential learning to support their in class learning

I believe that learning is best achieved in a comfortable, nothreatening enviroment. People learn best when they understand the importance of the material being taught, something I strive to convey to my students. While I can easily teach a didactic lecturing style, I feel that an interactive approach often better meets the needs of the students. Ultimately, education is a reflection of the students success and the teacher is merely a means to that end.
My experience in teaching is broad and varied. I have taught medical students, other physicians, technologists, as well as teaching at military facilities. In additiom, I have two school age children myself and I believe that I am their primary teacher. This varied teaching experience allows me to tailor my teaching methods to the students and has allowed me to gain a great fund of knowledge.
