As a recent graduate from the University of Hartford, I have excelled in my studies. With majors in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Rhetoric and Professional Writing, I stand with Magna Cum Laude and University Honors. The integregation of my majors has made me realize the importance of reading and writing in the classroom. I am experienced in reading and writing recovery as well as working with students with exceptionalities. My students have been identified as LD, ID, ED, Tramatic Brain Injured, Autistic, Cri Du Chat Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. For the past four years I used to tutor with Club Z tutoring. Although I have taught, coached and tutored aorking professionals I only have one year experience actually teaching. Since I have been unemployed (July, 2008)I have been volunteering in a bilingual second grade at Hill Central Music Academy in New Haven, CT
I understand that children (and adults) have differennt learning styles and try to tailor my approach to the specific needs of the student. The bilingual students I teach have a unique challenge in that the letters of the alphabet represent different sounds in English versus Spanish. I have a great rapport with the children and because they are receptive to my teaching style have been very successful.
