My comments on tutoring Grammar : Grammar can be hard in the English language therefore, I teach the rules with how to use proper grammar. Proper grammar must be used to communicate properly when writing.

In my tutoring sessions I spend time getting to know my student discovering his weaknesses, his strengths and evaluating his abilities to learn, and to comprehend. Then I devise a plan of action to help him overcome areas of fear and insecurity by helping him to build confidence and right attitudes towards learning. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
