I have taught an array of Biology courses at College level for over 10 years. During my time as a Graduate student at Louisiana State University, I have taught college freshman and have tutored high school students. After receiving my PhD, I taught Biology at Rogers State University. I am very comfortable teaching a wide array of Biology courses. Currently employed a University of Tampa as an assistant professor of Biology.
I have always used student-oriented teaching methods. For example I usually give the students real -life scenarios such as case studies to reinforce the concepts they learn. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. After attending (and teaching in) a graduate program in American/British Literature and Language at L.S.U., I realized that my true calling was teaching. I began teaching English, Journalism, S.A.T. MENTORING THROUGH TEACHING LASTS FOREVER!!!

I have tutored in the Public Schools for many years while my children were young. As a young teen I even graded papers for teachers who were not associated with my school district. I enjoy teaching and get great satisfaction from the success when a student gets it! I home schooled my middle child when she became too ill to attend school on a regular basis.
