A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that every student has the ability to learn. Teachers must take the time to discover the individual needs of students in order to help all students be successful. I strive to provide individualized instruction in all areas and for all children. I firmly believe in involving a child's parents in all aspects of their education. Parents are a child's first teachers!
I have been teaching students with special needs for the past 14 years. I have experience with preschool through 6th grade. I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center, where I worked with students through 12th grade. I especially enjoy working with students with Learning Disabilities, lower cognitive abilities, and children on the Autism Spectrum. I am trained in a reading program for children with Dyslexia. I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.
My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge. I obtained my BA in English Communication from Talladega College and also i have a minor in History. I have had a great deal of expereince in writng papers, essays, articles ,and reports. My goal when teaching a student is to explain the subject in the most simplest way possible. So next time the student is back in the classroom, they will have some understanding of what the teacher is teaching. I also like to get an understanding of the way the student learns. This helps me when deciding on teaching techniques.
