The roles of the teacher and student are one in the same. I go into teaching knowing that I am not the end all shepherd of information but I am going to give all I can at being as clear, concise, informative, and objective.
My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. My teaching style is based around being able to adapt to the individual student(s) and help them overcome their areas of improvement. The goal of a good tutor should not just be to get their students finish their assignments, but to help the students understand the fundamentals of whatever discipline they are studying. This MUST be a significant sphere of focus because students need a good foundation to continue their academic progression. Giving students the belief that they can understand any academic concept as long as they stay focus keeps them engaged in the overall educational process. A Little Bit About Me...

My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1. Of all the students in the school who surpassed the required State testing and higher District goals in both reading and math, 75% came from my class, as did the winners of the school's essay contest, spelling bee and geography competition. My first career was in medicine where I gave direct care, taught military/civilian classes and participated extensively in research, gaining a deep understanding of science biology and chemistry and human A&P.
