I have taught for 30 years. Five years ago I began tutoring when my daughter was diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder. I feel like I can do more as a tutor than a classroom teacher. My heart lies with these kids and I want to do everything I can to help make them a success. I create an individual course of study for each child based on their learning style. A Little Bit About Me...

I began working in the school setting in February, 2002. Initially I worked as a teacher's aide in the special education (K-5) classroom environment. Shortly after, I began to tutor after-school hours for one of the special needs students. The "parent network" took off and soon I was tutoring five students per week. In 2004, I returned to school for my masters/teacher credential program. Upon graduation, I worked for two years as a program director at a before-and-after school program and two years as a creative movement/dance instructor in the Vancouver School District.
My teaching style is to help make student's successful by understanding their learning style. Each student has different ways to learn. Some students require a more visual approach while ohers prefer repetion through listening and writing. I try to find the best way to help students learn and retain information. I believe that with the right help, every student has the potential to achieve academic success.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an American kid who grew up outside of the US, I am a lifelong student of language and culture. Because of my studies in French and since I lived 14 years in France, I have near-native mastery of the language and understand the culture intimately. I have taught Middle School and High School level French for 5 years in an international school in Germany. I also have strong English skills, having earned a BA in English, which included classes to prepare me specifically to tutor students in English. I have helped students learn to write papers and essays for other classes when I worked as a classroom teacher.
