I have been a math resource tutor at my high school for the past year. I really enjoying helping people using my strengths in the math and sciences. I have also experienced tutoring first hand. I was tutored in AP BC Calculus and AP Physics, so I know from experience what works and what doesn't. I am direct without being overpowering. I have learned how to help the student come to the right answer compared to explaining why the answer is what it is. Talking them through the thought process of the problem is the first step to solving the problem on their own.

I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.

I am currently writing my thesis in order to finish my Master’s degree in applied physics. My research is on experiment fluid dynamics where I am studying the affects of viscosity on glycerin. I have incredible math and science skills that I would love to teach others. I worked at a community college were I learned different methods of teaching or tutoring others.
I believe that by letting the student try to answer the problem by them self is the best way of learning. I will try to guide them down the right path, but even a wrong answer can teach you a lesson.
