It is time to understand what is going on in math class.

I understand that many students seeking tutors have had years of frustration in math classes. Often, I find that they do not understand the concepts. They are confined to memorization and rote. Students who I teach will learn to appreciate what they are learning.
I have had teaching responsibilities since I began graduate school. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. For a couple of years I volunteered for Literacy Volunteers because of my love of reading.

While working with children in the high school in Brooklyn I have come up with a particular way for a student to become engaged in his work and to perform well. When a student has a question about a certain problem I usually perform the solution while he or she is looking. I then try it again with perhaps a different problem. After this, I let the student give it a try with myself making comments if they have a problem. This might have to occur another time but essentially the next step is to have the student complete a problem without the aide coming from me.
