A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate with a Master of Science in Environmental Studies with a Conservation Biology concentration. This education has required that I become acquainted with a wide variety of subjects including mathematics and the natural sciences. This also entails having a high level of written and oral communication skills needed to bridge the gap between science, law, and policy. I have worked in the college setting as a community service coordinator and collaborated with several faculty to incorporate community service into their classroom curriculum in a wide variety of subjects.
My teaching style varies greatly depending on the needs of the student; however, I always try to meet the student first and then decide which approach will be the most effective. A Little Bit About Me...

I strongly believe that the success of education depends on how well it targets a student's learning style and values. Everyone can learn, but individual attention is a vital part of that. We don't all learn the same way or at the same speed, and these differences should be addressed in a positive and creative way to both convey the subject material and strengthen a student's ability to learn in the future.
I received my B.A. in English from Appalachian State University where I also received training in education. Afterward, I became an instructor at Richmond Community College, teaching basic reading and math to adults with learning disabilities as well as a course on PC literacy & business training. In addition to classroom instruction, I've had one-on-one experience tutoring university students in English and Learning Skills.
