I have been tutoring and teaching children since high school in my Teacher's Academy class at Lakota East High School. I then went on to study Education at the University of Dayton and graduated in May of 2013 with a degree and teaching lisence. In the fall I will be employed with Dayton Public Schools. I have had experience with both elementary school children and middle school children both in and outside of the classroom. I did my student teaching in a 7th grade Social Studies classroom. I have also volunteered in South Dakota on a Native American Reservation as a week long tutor for Native American children.

I graduated from one of the top ranked schools in the nation for education, Miami University (Ohio). I earned my bachelor's degree there. I have been teaching children that have learning disabilities for ten years. I also have worked with children that have severe emotional problems. I will be graduating from Grand Canyon University in December with my master's degree in special education. For the past few years I have been tutoring an eighth grader in grammar and poetry.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that children will learn better with their own interests in mind. While I was tutoring History, it helped the child understand the concepts of the battles of the Civil War easier when I showed a map and used plastic army men. While tutoring Math, the student understood the concepts of fractions better if I used measuring cups for simple fractions.
As a graduate of Wright State University, I was taught to be motivated to achieve the goals which each class helped me achieve. I have earned a bachelor degree in History. I love children and I love teaching children. I teach using a variety of methods. I have learned that children have different ways of learning. Some children are visual learners so I used plenty of visual aids when teaching these children. Some children are kinetic learners so I made sure that I used manipulatives when teaching these children. I believe that all children have a "best way" to learn.
