Physics - Clearing Up A Murky Subject

I'm generally a fun, happy person, not the classic awkward engineer. :) I'd love to turn a student's "trouble subject" into a point of personal accomplishment, through tutoring that he/she will actually enjoy. I think tutoring comes easily to me because my mind sees multiple ways to understand each problem, which allows me to alter my explanation based on the student's personal understanding. Each of us learns and thinks quite differently, so I enjoy being able to present the material in a way that catches the interest of the student. My reward is the moment I see understanding 'click' into place and they take off doing the rest of the problem without me.

I have taught just about all secondary levels of science throughout my teaching career. I have typically worked in county schools where each member of the department had to take on multiple tasks. I have taught chemistry, physics, biology, earth science, environmental science, horticulture, and principles of technology in my twenty-five year career. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of accounting and finance experience. Although I have no formal teaching degree, I feel that I would be an excellent tutor. First, I have successfully trained many employees over the years. Second, my two sons, ages 21 and 19 graduated numbers 2 and 1 in their high school classes, respectively. Now, both are "straight A" students at the University of Tennessee. Here, I feel that I have lead by example. Finally, my personality, while being friendly and patient, is also that of a highly motivated "over achiever" who loves to help others.
