A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently an intervention specialist for students in grades 5-8, specializing in reading content and reading strategies. Last year, I taught students in the fifth grade, focusing in the scholastic areas of mathematics, reading, language arts, science and social studies.I was assisting students in an inclusion setting with some pull out resource room interventions. I am very dynamic personable adult who loves to laugh, but also knows how to get down to business and get work done. I think it is very important to not only feed information to your student, but also to create a relationship them. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. I have been able to teach non-technical elderly adults computers and teens that had no interest in religion by creating a relaxed atmosphere and attempting to make the subjects interesting, relevant and fun. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very energetic and interactive teacher, moving around the classroom, challenging students with questions, providing many examples and anecdotes to illustrate teaching points. I always try to teach inductively--leading the student to discover the answer on their own, and I encourage them to express their own original thoughts. I use a multisensory approach to teaching, using audio-visual resources and the internet whenever possible. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in political science in 2009. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I am now working on my Master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I worked as an English tutor for international students at the University of Findlay from 2007-2009. I also tutored college students in Spanish in the fall of 2009. I have also tutored elementary school students in English. I studied Spanish in Mexico and Arabic in Jordan. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with all children. We all have different learning styles and as a teacher, it is up to me to figure out the student's learning style and tailor the teaching to that student.
