I am passionate about encouraging young people to achieve and surpass their full potential academically and personally. I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.
As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. The experience of teaching students, though complicated at times, was extremely rewarding. I felt a sense of joy when my students understood a concept here and there. I soon realized I was slowly becoming a role model to younger students that were interested in studying chemistry.
