I have an unparalleled amount of patience.

The roles of the teacher and student are one in the same. I go into teaching knowing that I am not the end all shepherd of information but I am going to give all I can at being as clear, concise, informative, and objective.
My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. In my college career, I found myself teaching people everything from music to proper uses of tense/grammar. It was there that i learned that you really only learn a small fraction of what you need to help you in life in the classroom. The rest must be learned on your own or with some one-on-one counseling. I know that any information can possibly be simplified and made clearer with a little time and attention to towards looking at t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a math major, I tutored my peers throughout college. While I can tutor almost any math subject and several science subjects, my favorite subject to teach is algebra. I have found that those who struggle with higher math, including calculus and differential equations, often struggle due to lacking a solid foundation in algebra. If I can help you succeed in algebra, it will set you up well for future math and science courses.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to experience the thrill of success as a child begins to understand. I enjoy seeing their confusion transform into understanding. I believe children have brilliant minds that just need to be directed or focused in a way that incorporates their frame of reference. I have seen how children become excited with learning as they understand concepts and begin to apply them to practical situations. I believe children love to learn! Sometimes they just need to have some direction along the way. I find great satisfaction in helping a child build confidence with learning.
As "stay at home" mom of 6, I have used my two Bachelors' degrees for the education of my own children. I've taught them essential reading and writing skills, study habits, organization skills, science projects, practical application of principles, and a love of learning. I have also home schooled my children ... read more

The most enjoyable and satisfying part of installing new Accounting systems in businesses was the opportunity to teach the accounting staff how to generate timely and accurate financial statements. Internal controls was an important component of each new introduction. I am patient with demanding staff and officers during the implementation process and afterward, during phone support calls. I would enjoy teaching and broadening young minds to appreciate the subject of accounting and become passionate about it as I am. After all, accounting is an elegant language of recording business transactions.

A Little Bit About Me...

I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.

My teaching style is very simple, it's teaching people the concepts at hand in a manner they can understand, because some texts and instructions can be very confusing and over explained. I enjoy making complex concepts seem easy to my students and love to watch them apply them to any problem. Once, I get my students thinking in the right manner they can solve any problem.
As a junior and senior finance major, I routinely tutored fellow classmates in several finance and business courses. As a junior I showed many of my classmates how to excel in several areas of business, such as, finance, accounting, human resources, and management. As a senior I tutored many of my friends and colleagues in many finance courses, such as, portfolio management, financial engineering, and personal finance. I get excited to work with children. I know that all children can learn and we must teach to their learning styles. I am firm, but flexible in my teaching practices. I am constantly reflecting upon my teaching and refining my skills. Hands on learning is key to making information more understandable. I like to use positive feedback for students, especially being able to show them their progress. I believe this helps students gain confidence and increase motivation.
As a reading teacher, I see the value in reading and making sure each student succeeds in this area. Working towards my masters degree has helped me to understand even better the reading process and key components that need to be in a balanced reading program. I have worked with students in all different subjects, but most memorable was my aunt in high school. I tutored her in math to help her get her degree. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My master's thesis was on computer-based training. My experience includes teaching end users and other trainers (train the trainer). Classroom training subjects have included using software programs, developing online documentation, writing skills, communications training, policies and so on. Past clients have been Blue Cross Blue Shield, U.S. Navy, Chevron and many more. Further, I have mentored co-workers in the past and enjoy one-on-one coaching very much.
My approach is to incorporate multiple learning styles (visual, auditory and so on). I also like to incorporate skills training as part of a scenario when possible. Using techniques like appropriate background music, brief stretch breaks, having the children read to Sierra, my golden retriever, are all techniques that I would like to use. Teaching children would be a joy and very rewarding. I had trouble learning to re ... read more

I have earned dual undergraduate degrees, a BA in Mathematics and a BA in Economics, from Eastern Washington University. While attending EWU I worked as a econometrics tutor and teaching assistant. I have been admitted to a PhD program at Washington State University for this coming fall. Through tutoring at EWU, I have demonstrated an ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations. I have strong quantitative skills in mathematical, statistical and economic contexts.
I work to explore and supplement the existing knowledge of each student. I do not give answers but rather provide direction and support. Quantitative problems require self-confidence,I help students develop poise.

I believe I have an uncanny ability to break down & analyize any math problem to its simplist components, re-word it into an understandable form, and deliver several different solution options in order for the student to confidently answer - even when it presents itself in different ways.
Unfortunately, I am not able to document any particular periods of time as a tutor or teacher; however, with my experience in the medical imaging field, and with a strong background in physics & math, I believe I poscess a keen apptitude for technical subjects.

I earned a Bachelors degree in accounting, with clusters in Finance and Spanish. I have work experience in auditing, tax and financial analysis. Currently I am working on an MBA, and plan to begin a doctoral program in 2011 as I prepare to become an accounting professor. I worked as a youth counselor for three summers, teaching teenagers from age 14-18. I love teaching, which is why I have chosen to teach accounting as a career.
Anyone can learn any skill that they are willing to work at. I personally prefer to learn by doing, so that is also how I teach. When a student works through examples, discussing how concepts apply, that application of the concept helps to solidify the knowledge. I am patient when teaching, and I believe that a relaxed environment is best for learning. Communication is the key to both teaching and learning.

Teaching is my passion and I can't imagine doing anything else. I love my students and they love me because I provide hands-on, kinesthetic, and rememorable lessons. My patience and understanding makes it easy for children to feel comfortable with me; therefore, they are more open to working with me and truly grasping the standards they must learn. My method of teaching centers around talking with the student, watching his/her habits, and learning how they learn best-visually, auditorially, kinesthecially, etc. My goal is to help students retain the study skills and habits they need to transfer over to the classroom independently.
I started teaching English-Language Arts & U.S. History in central California, where I taught 8th graders for two years. Then I moved to South Korea, where I taught ESL for one year. After that amazing experience, I moved to South Lake Tahoe and taught En ... read more

Children and adults learn in different ways. Visual, auditory, kinesthetic are three ways that people can learn, I happen to be mostly kinesthetic. I alter how I teach depending on what my students need and what the resources are. I do use a constructivist teaching style to do this. I do believe that a student rises to the expectations of the instructor. I also believe that the responsibility of learning should be increasingly the students as they take over their own education away from the instructor. While the instructor is giving over the job of education to the student they should still contribute to broadening the students knowledge horizons by offering challenges.

I was born in a french country where I studied in French for over 18 years, and I went to France to study for 1 year, and later I moved to the United States. My writing and speaking in both French and English are superior. I taught mathematics in my native country for 5 years, and I taught french at Spokane community college for the academic year of 2006-2007. I can teach mathematics and french.
