I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. When I was a kid I used to ask questions about things. My questions were usually of the natural sciences bent. I was eight. As an adult, knowing I was going to have a daughter, I discovered that I needed to be respected in the world for my knowledge so I could have a career that could support my daughter. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have graduated, I still see myself as a student still learning. I take that with me when I teach fellow students. I try to make it an experience where we are all learning something together. This prevents me from just telling someone what to learn, instead it shows someone how to learn. During my years in high school I struggled. At one point my GPA fell below a 2.0. I learned how to bounce back by improving study habits and hard work and ended up graduating college with biology degree with a 4.0 GPA.
