I am currently working at a facility which services individuals working towards attaining their GED.These youth are either court ordered to get their GED while they are being serviced at this facility or they are drop-outs who'said best shot at moving up on the academic ladder is getting their GED.

My philosophy of discipline is simple: observe, take data and find the function of the behavior. When a student misbehaves in class there is an underlying reason. Every behavior has a function. The function can be to gain access to an item or person, to avoid doing the work or aggressive behaviors if they do not understand the assignment completely, medicine or personal affects (hungry, sleepy or thirsty). I also believe in “brain breaks”. My students take a break every hour to get up, walk around, listen to music and get the wiggles out. My teaching style is based on my belief that my purpose is that the student learn the material. If that means backtracking and presenting the material in a different manner or using more examples then that is what I will do. Especially in math and accounting, the building blocks must be solid in order to advance so I do concentrate on each step being strong.
My parents were both educators and my daughter is a professor, so I can say in all honesty that education has been a most important aspect of my life. I have been very successful as a college instructor and a tax school teacher. As a college student I am still striving for my goal and dream of becoming a veterinarian. I have always been a mentor in my community and willing to help others where they need help. My favorite subjects throughout grade school include math and science, in which I have excelled in both by being placed in honor level classes throughout high school.
