A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has been something I have done a great deal of my life no matter what path I was on. When I was in nursing school, patient teaching was a strong point of mine. I love children. I am patient, kind and believe in utilizing intrinsic and extrinsic forms of lessons so that children develop a love of learning and see the short term rewards and long term rewards.My goal is to help a student succeed.
I am currently heading for a BS in Elementary Education while I am home schooling my children. I have home school grades 6-11. I have accomplished raising reading levels within 6 months past 2 grades past level. I have tutored and home schooled children outside my own and have been asked to assist children with reading. My shelves are currently equipped with grade K-10 curriculum and I am ready to provide part time and full time education on several subjects or one

My personal philosophy embraces ownership, one of the top ingredients for successful learning. Personal ownership creates a more perceptive learning process. Students will be more willing to maintain their learning as they proceed throughout the year. Another way ownership makes a big academic difference is through motivation. Ownership will also create self-confidence. A good teacher demonstrates faith in their ability to achieve simply by making them part of the process. When asking them ‘what do you think;’ their participation will increase and they will better remember the facts being taught. I currently hold a BA in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. In previous positions interpersonal, written and verbal communication, diversity, and professional skills have strengthen and will continue to do so; but nothing compared to enriching another’s life by way of education. As a parent, I understand the importance of resolving issues, expanding confidence, promoting individualism, and security within a family unit.
