I received my Bachelor of Music for violin performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, and I am currently a member of the Civic Orchestra in Chicago. Music has been my life and passion for the last 16 years of my life. I have a tremendous passion for the violin, and an equal desire to teach and educate others this beautiful instrument. I have had performed with various professional orchestras such as the Sarasota Orchestra and Southwest Florida Symphony. I work best in one-on-one situations with students of most ages, particularly older students. I make sure that the student understands my explanations of topics, and if they do not, I make sure to rephrase coherently so that they do. I actively engage the student in their learning, encouraging them to answer their own questions rather than simply lecturing. I believe that getting the student to believe in him or herself is the key to success, and I find encouraging them to move in the right direction and correct themselves is more effective than reproaching mistakes.

I have private tutored almost all throughout college, mostly because I had many international friends in desperate need for English help. I taught English in Korea; the first 5 months being beginner English (to preschool to fourth graders) and the last 7 months I taught actual subjects children in America learn but at advanced levels (from 3rd grade to late middle school). The way I teach is different for every grade level. I check out the book, get to know the student and find a path to which the child can learn easily and find the subject interesting, no matter who the student is. I don't give up easily.
