My comments on tutoring Vocals : Proficient in Indian classical music.

For my undergraduate studies in India, I chose Electronics and Communication as my specialisation. My areas of interests during my undergraduate degree includes Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communication and Embedded programming. I have always been keen on programming. I have done 2 projects (major and minor ) while in college. While the minor project involved Embedded PIC programming and simulation; the major project involved MATLAB programming for image processing and basic PIC programming for a robotic arm which picked components in circuit labs in colleges. As a foster parent, I tutored our first child as he progressed through kindergarten and the first grade. His previous school experience was lacking at best, and he had little confidence in his scholastic ability. I was able to pinpoint his natural aptitude--mathematics--and use it to help not only boost his self-esteem regarding academics, but also to tailor my approach to his other subjects as well. Since math is very much tied to logic, using logical constructs to aid him in his critical thinking proved fruitful in showing him how to solve problems regarding tasks such as alphabetization, grammar, and spelling, among others.

I begin by starting a conversation to break the ice. A child cannot beging learning from a stranger. If I can get to know a child better, then I can get a better idea of how they learn, how much information they will absorb, what they will find interesting, and ultimately, this will impact their overall experience with me, with tutoring, and with their desire to continue learning through the venue of tutoring. I feel that if a child has a certain interest in something, then that particular "interest" (perhaps dinosaurs, or Zhu Zhu Pets for example), can be used to enhance their own experience of learning.
