I enjoy the challenge of working with children. My eldest daughter is a graduate of the University of Georgia and I have two teenagers currently in Middle and high school. They have augmented my ability to be patient and flexible when assisting with their homework. Further, their diverse curriculum has made it necessary to brush up on their current subjects as well as my teaching skills. Both are top students and both have won good citizenship awards. I feel that family and teacher support sets the dynamic that allows children to grow and gain knowledge in their ongoing endeavors.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe children learn best when they can form a connection to their school work. Writing skills can be improved by using topics that are relevant to the student's life. When working on Reading skills I often use high interest topics such as the arts, sports, computers and science to encourage students to excel. Math can also become more meaningful by using real life situations and manipulatives. It is my goal to increase students' self esteem by providing situations in which they can succeed.
During my 23 years of teaching I implemented Kindergarten through 6th grade New York State curriculum in a classroom setting. I attended workshops that focused on computer education, Multiage classroom and positive discipline.

I enjoy working with students of all ages. The great thing about tutoring is that instead of focusing on the needs of an entire class, the tutor can focus on the needs of one individual student. One thing I believe in with my teaching is to use a three prong method. Some students are visual learners, some are textual learners, and some are audio learners. Because of that, with anything I teach I have it written in text form, explain it verbally, and demonstrate it visually so that the student can have the best opportunity to grasp the information their way.
