Theatre Is Fun, So Let's Have Fun

I have experience in theatrical design (costume and set painting), and performance (drama, musicals, comedies). I also have worked with children as a mentor in KidStage (an after school theatre program) in which I taught theatre skills, games, styles to children between ages 6-10. Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the most important key to teaching is having a passionate teacher. When a student has a teacher who is interested in the subject matter, they cannot help but be interested too. In regards to my favorite subject, history, I believe it is best taught by focusing on the ‘story’ aspect of it. A Little Bit About Me...

Cumulatively, including extended substitute teaching situations, I have taught all grade levels 1-12 in various subjects. I would describe my teaching style as ecclectic. By this I mean that I discern which style or strategy would best accomdodate the needs of the particular child, based on their learning style. Once the child's learning style is distinguished, I would tailor my lessons/tutoring to that particular style.
Throughout college, I consistently worked as a tutor or mentor, specifically with minority populations. Upon graduation, I joined Teach for America and taught high school English in rural North Carolina. Since my tenure in TFA, I have taught English to students in Mexico, substitue taught for 2 years at a Waldorf school in La Crosse, WI, and currently tutor and mentor students as I attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
