Teacher looking to help students learn to love math!

I feel that it is important to relate to students and make the learning experience about what they need. I like to get to know a student on a personal level so that I can better learn what's best for them as a studuent.
Out of college, I substitute taught for a year, where I gained the ability to adapt to the needs and personalities of many different students. I have spent 2 1/2 years teaching grades 6-12 in an alternative school, working one-on-one with students, giving them the individual attention and education they need. I use strategic questions to help guide students to the right answer without giving the answer directly to them. This allows the student to develop their own sense of logic when approaching problems so that when test time comes, they will be able to ask themselves questions similar to what I ask during tutoring sessions and help figure out the answer step by step.
