A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from high school in 2011 with special honors and as co-valedictorian. I am now attending the University of Mississippi where I am majoring in accountancy and minoring in business. My passion is writing, so naturally that is what I do best. Every year, I am contacted by numerous students from my high school and also my classmates at Ole Miss about proofreading their papers. I have also worked with helping students study for math classes, including but not limited to pre-algebra and algebra. My best subjects have always been English and math, but I am efficient in all high school level courses with the one exception of science, which has always been my weakness. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all children are born with the same amount of human potential. However, I’m disheartened by what I’ve witnessed in Mississippi’s public schools: that many children are failing to read at grade level. They are often “left behind.” My approach to teaching is driven by my belief that all children can learn if given the cognitive stimulation coupled with a nurturing, learning environment. I know that children are eager to know, understand, and discern. I believe teachers should not disseminate facts; instead they should cultivate the desire for knowledge. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to work with children who are eager to learn. I know that for most children having to study is not their top priority, so I try to make it fun. A Little Bit About Me...

Determining the learning styles of individual students is important to me. I adjust and accomodate my approach based on how students respond and learn. Changing my methods and being creative help me reach students on many levels. I enjoy building on past knowledge, kinesthetic activities, and appealing to students interests.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters. I have a fascination with math and numbers. My extensive experience with budgeting and using spreadsheets and formulas has kept me fresh with my math skills. I recently tutored a 50+ adult to take a math skills test for the CRC. He passed, and was had such a sense of accomplishment, after almost giving up hope that he could pass it.
I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are.
