My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I struggled with this subject myself so I understand how to approach an effective instructional technique.

I have worked with teenagers, young adults and older students returning to college. I work especially well with students who have a lack of confidence about their academic or intellectual abilities. May students have told me years after taking my courses that they would not have made it to graduation without my help. I also served as a drama director at one of my colleges and produced 4 highly successful full-length plays. Ten years after one of the productions the entire cast planned a surprise reunion for me at a local restaurant. I could ask for greater 'applause' for my teaching efforts.

After college, I worked for an SAT preparation service teaching the math sections. Additionally, I have been tutoring students in math privately since graduation.
I love math, so I try to convey my love for math on the student. I like to explain things in terms of what they understand and build upon it into the new material that they are working on. Teaching is a passion of mine. I truly believe that all students need to be reached and sometimes the teachers forget that. I believe that to teach, you must reach the student fully, and to reach the student is to actively engage the student in the lesson. The students are more interested if they are put in the situation or if they are doing something hands-on rather than listening to the teacher.
