Learning is a lifelong process!

My very first year of teaching was at the Lehigh Valley Performing Arts High School, and I also taught for two years at Northern Lehigh High School. Currently, I am resigned and staying home, but looking to work part time. I have experience teaching grades 7-12 and working with all types of students. The classes I've taught range from Honors English to a class which targeted students struggling to gain proficiency in English related PSSA skills.
Every student is unique and benefits from an individualized instruction. My style is business casual; I am firm yet warm and encouraging with students.

Socratic Method !!
Starting as a part time peer tutor at the Lehigh Carbon Community College and then moving to Kaplan Premier as an SAT Math tutor, and later to full time Math teacher in Northeast Philadelphia, PA, I enjoyed working with students of all levels and ages. Every student has a potential to learn and grow at his or her own rate. I work with students at their current levels and build on what they already know in order to fill any gaps necessary for their advancement as I introduce new concepts and problems to understand and solve.

In my ESL classes, I try to stress communication and emphasize the skills that will help the students use the language independently rather than lecture them. I will use a similar approach with you, but will be flexible enough to adapt to your needs. I will have challenging assessments for my students to ensure they understand the concepts covered in the class and provide insightful feedback so that they can continue to improve.
Hello there! My name is Nikhil and I would love to be your English tutor and help you improve your confidence with the language. As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.
I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

Showing substitution techniques when the student has to deal with abstract letters and symbols has been very effective. Also, stressing the importance of practice tests as well as the skill of time management is important. Critical is an open communication and a awareness and sensitivity to the students learning needs / skills.
Studying for my MA, I held a TA and found that I had a talent for connecting with students. Although I pursued a business career, specializing in electronic payments, I tutored Math on a part-time basis because I found it rewarding especially when students who told me they "hated math" liked doing math with me and subsequently scored well on their tests. In the last 3 years I had 2 students that achieved perfect 800s on their math.

I teach and tutor with enthusiasm and passion, and my love of the subject eminates throughout my instruction. Whatever the student's past experiences in math, I will make the course fun and easy to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I received a B.S. Degree in Education with a teaching certificate in English-Communication, at the secondary level. I am also qualified to instruct younger children. My graduate work focused on elementary students. My experience with young children, was learning to identify reading disabilities, administering standardized reading tests, to assess the instructional and readiness levels of individual students. I have taught in a wide array of classroom settings and as a private tutor.
I strive to encourage open discussions, and small group activities so students can move around the room, but only as it relates to the task at hand. I enjoy watching their enthusiasm when I give a "fun" learning activity. I am pleasant, very patient and lively!

I believe that effective communication and a supportive environment is crucial to a good teaching/learning relationship. I don't mind questions, in fact I encourage them at any time! I see learning as a 2-way street. It is the students responsibility to stop me immediately and ask questions if he/she does not understand. It is my responsibility, in response, to answer those questions and find a new ... read more
