Looking for help with Engineering, Math or Computer Science?

I like to try and figure out how a student goes about understanding different topics. Often times teachers teach right from the textbook, but this can be confusing and students can be left behind because they learn differently. I know from experience that lectures don't always help and that another approach can be best.
I am currently a PhD student in Computer and Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland. I have both my B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University. In addition, I have several years of experience as a teaching assistant at Bucknell. I also have several years of experience with computer science, programming for a government laboratory.

I like to make the students think logical instead of methodically deriving the answers. I try to concentrate on teaching problem solving skills, as this would strengthen their base. I tutor my peers and help them understand the programming concepts that pose a challenge for many. I was also involved in Society of Women in Engineering organization, where we visited middle schools to mentored girls to pursue science subjects. I believe teaching is a gift and sharing knowledge is the best way to accept this gift. I am patient, easy going, and considerate with kids. A Little Bit About Me...

I have an undergraduate degree in physics (B.S.) and graduate degree in electrical engineering (M.S.). I have tutored in physics, chemistry and math before while in school. I have been able to start outreach programs with peers to help kids in under-served areas of Washington DC teaching physics through use of music. I have also participated in Johns Hopkins CTY summer youth program tutoring top percentage of high school students around the country and Central America in biomedical sciences. I would love to inspire and teach those who have great potential to learn but are lacking the right motivation from someone who can push them to their maximum achievement.
